Welcome to the New Mexico Capitol Art Collection
The New Mexico State Capitol—affectionately known as the Roundhouse—is not just the seat of government; it’s also home to one of the region’s most compelling contemporary art collections. Free and open to the public, the Capitol Art Collection showcases works by artists from all corners of the state—from Taos to Tucumcari—offering a dynamic and evolving experience with every visit.

Located throughout the Capitol Complex, including the main building, Annex walkway, North Annex, and surrounding grounds, the collection invites you to explore New Mexico’s creative spirit in an unexpected civic space.
“This is a living collection of art by New Mexicans, in New Mexico, for New Mexico. It celebrates the diversity of our land and people—past, present, and future—and honors the creative impulse in all its forms.”
