Francisco studied in the painting program of the Art Students League in New York. He frequented museums to study the old masters’ paintings, copying them in an effort to capture and master their techniques. He developed a “Caravaggesque” (Caravaggio was an Italian painter in the 17th-century Renaissance and Baroque periods) approach in which his subjects were sculpted in paint using light and shadow to create dramatic effects. He has developed a career in the United States as well as in Europe.
