Pat Garey lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for over 30 years and was one of four art teachers at the New Mexico Junior College there. She taught oil and acrylic painting, mixed media, and drawing.

“I want to work with my students so they can produce the best possible art they are capable of, and to stimulate them to develop a style of their own.”

Garey received a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Illustration and Costume Design from Texas Woman’s University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University, with an emphasis in two-dimensional studio art and a minor in Art History. She also studied for a period at the Art Students League in New York City. In 1995, Garey was invited to teach watercolor and drawing at the Villa Marie Center for the Arts in Perugia, Italy, as part of a summer program.

Garey’s works are exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout the Southwest and the United States.
