Bebe Krimmer was born in Chicago and at the age of twelve she took classes at the Art Institute of Chicago and then attended the University of Illinois for her undergraduate degree. She received her master’s from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She spent the last two decades of her life living and working as a painter, printmaker, educator, and art supporter in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The actual act of creating was key for Krimmer, who never sketched out her works beforehand, but instead allowed the spontaneity of the process to evolve naturally.
In describing her work, her son Bob Krimmer eloquently explains:
“…some of her work was a complete exploration of disorder, some of it was a complete exploration of order, and some of it was attempting to resolve the tension between them… sometimes I feel at peace when I’m looking at her stuff because she’s offering a resolution to something that’s very difficult to resolve.”
Krimmer’s works continue to be exhibited and collected throughout the United States and internationally in galleries and museums.
