“Adam Released,” is an early work by Rini Price that showcases her love of the figure. Her drawings and paintings reflect that. Since the age of eleven, Price knew she would be making images of some sort on two-dimensional surfaces. A bit of a recluse, Price currently continues to paint in her studio. Explaining her process she states: “I am present at a canvas or piece of paper and make what I make. It is unexpected, unpredicted, and unbrandable . . . my work is not who I am, but what I do with who I am.” In 2005 Price exhibited seventeen paintings and her husband, a poet, V.B. Price, wrote seventeen poems from their collaborative publication: “Death Self,” at Artspace 116 in Albuquerque. The artwork and poems were inspired by their battle with health issues. Price received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in 1962, is represented in the Albuquerque Museum permanent collection, and has had numerous exhibitions throughout New Mexico.
