GIFT OF THE ARTIST
CAPITOL ART COLLECTION, CAPITOL ART FOUNDATION
Sherri Silverman moved to Santa Fe in 1986. She has a Doctorate in Art History and is a self-taught artist. Watercolor and pastel are her mediums of choice and her body of work focuses primarily on minimalist abstractions and landscapes with heavy Eastern influences: “My personal forms of expression intend to convey my response to the essence of nature and consciousness… part of a long tradition in Asia of this approach to art making, both in China and India.”
In 2001 Silverman was Artist-In-Residence at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, creating and displaying art during museum hours. Also in 2017–2018 she was awarded a three-month Cambridge Oakland Artist Residency.
Silverman’s work is included in the book 100 Artists of the Southwest, and is exhibited in private, public, and corporate collections nationwide. She has also had many solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums.
