Carol Anthony was born in New York City in 1943. She studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a degree in art in 1966.
Anthony is both a sculptor and a painter, and in 1978, she stopped sculpting to focus on painting. She paints primarily still life and simple scenes with objects, serving as inner landscapes. These works explore light as a metaphor for life, love and death; manifesting, as Anthony explains: “a place of inner stillness.”
Anthony is represented in permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institute, the Carnegie Institute, and the Hirshhorn Museum; as well as various private collections worldwide.
It continues to be the mission of the Capitol Art Foundation to build a permanent collection of New Mexico masterworks that are representative of New Mexico’s rich and diverse cultural, historical and artistic traditions.

Carol Anthony nació en la ciudad de Nueva York en 1943. Estudió arte en la Escuela de Diseño de Rhode Island y se graduó con un título en arte en 1966.
Anthony es escultora y pintora, y en 1978 dejó de esculpir para centrarse en la pintura. Ella pinta principalmente la naturaleza muerta y escenas simples con objetos, sirviendo como paisajes interiores. Estas obras exploran la luz como metáfora de la vida, el amor y la muerte; manifestando, como explica Anthony: “un lugar de quietud interior”.
Anthony está representada en colecciones permanentes del Instituto Smithsonian, el Instituto Carnegie y el Museo Hirshhorn; así como en varias colecciones privadas en todo el mundo.
Sigue siendo la misión de la Fundación Capitol Art construir una colección permanente de obras maestras de Nuevo México que sean representativas de las ricas y diversas tradiciones culturales, históricas y artísticas de Nuevo México.
